Cycle Oregon Email List and Forum Information

In the spring of 1999 we started collecting the email postings. This was a little over a year before the group moved to the Yahoogroups website and automatic archiving began there. We have pulled out many of the most informative postings, sorted them, and put them on this website. Information from the new Cycle Oregon Forum is also being added. As of May, 2002 we have sorted through over 14,500 postings! Printing this whole collection takes an entire ream of paper.

While this info was last updated in 2004, most of it still applies.

Square brackets [ ] indicate an explanatory comment by the editor. When researching a subject it is a good idea to at least skim through all of the postings (even the "me, too" posts) in that subject as there are often tidbits buried in them.

Many of the postings contained more than one subject. In most cases these have been split apart, but you will occasionally find things in a post that are unrelated to the main topic where it is located.

If you are new to Cycle Oregon...

your best bet is to eventually skim through most of this over the next few months as you think of questions. Don't attempt to digest it all at once or you will overload and the whole idea won't be fun anymore. Just pick out a topic/question that is of interest to you now and come back for more when you are ready.

Since this represents many people's opinions there are often several answers to a question. Experiment and find what is best for you. The diversity of the people, bikes, clothes, camping, etc. is part of what makes Cycle Oregon so interesting!

Last, but not least...

a big thank you to all of the people who posted!
